Originally inspired by the story of the twelve princesses, Kirsten’s shoe paintings are informed by people and places; each tells a story either true or imagined..

The series of 3 flip flop paintings were created following a February visit to Fowey, Cornwall and a new purchase of some splendid pink flip flops. They seemed the perfect pair of shoes for this fabulous town. The collages are made up of Cornish tide tables and silver hallmarks plus the dictionary definitions of pink, fuchsia and of course flip and flop! Ferry tickets from Bodinnick to Fowey and fragments of a map showing the Fowey estuary are also included. Indian stamps reference the place theflip flops were made and the pink candy stripe paper is a bag from Fowey’s own sweet shop.
