‘Wild at Heart’ No.s 1-10

A little series of original painted collages inspired by a love of nature and particularly wild flowers.

As I was choosing the flowers to use I was mesmerised by the names and colours and reading the information on each flower felt like reading the cards, looking into the future, one where hopefully we cherish, protect and live in harmony with nature’s beauty and rich diversity.

Inspired by amulets and milagros (ancient symbols of love and protection) the heart symbols reference a deep love of nature I have felt all my life. The expressive brushstrokes in gold leaf are inspired by map references as if taking a journey around the world and finding the different flowers that grow wild.

Vintage illustrations are collaged with painted hearts that symbolise nature’s ability to survive in unlikely places. Fragments of music scores are added as a reference to our love of culture and personal expression and I used original ordnance survey maps from all over the world.

These are my little ‘Icons to nature’, ...the one wonderful thing we all have in common, our very own unique club where everyone is welcome and we are all members from the moment we exist!
