This series is inspired by St Ives, the beautiful Cornish town by the sea. Painted with the palette of vintage postcards, the view is bright and clear as if remembering a perfect day by the seaside in the window of your mind.

Kirsten paints seascapes at different times of the day and throughout the year.

On different days a certain aspect of the view may stand out amongst the ever-changing

colours and textures, boats and buildings. She often creates many sketches and painted studies of the same view.

Bright neon fenders, oranges pinks and yellows fizz against the deep blues and turquoise waters. The lines and marks, splashes and touches of colour in Kirsten’s paintings record the textures and forms of the coastline and beaches. Sometimes fragments of vintage text are added as a reference to the sea, tides, the moon and shoreline.

The pieces capture the way our favourite views change according to what is in our mind, who we are with and where we are headed. Each is a moment in time to be treasured and remembered.
