Spring Flower Garden

A piece created in spring, when the new leaves are bright green and optimistic buds peep above the fronds and ferns towards the warm sunshine. Ranunculus are blossoming in bright pinks and pale pastels high above the layers of fresh lemony greens and deep blue shadows cast behind. Hidden within the piece are precious objects from different countries and cultures, a reference to the many origins of the plants in my spring garden.

Love hearts hide beside seedpods and the fritillary flowers are collaged with handwritten Indian letters so old that they are almost beyond translation, special secrets to be admired but never fully understood, like the buds themselves.

Spring flower garden is bright, bold and beautiful, complementary colours blend with neutrals and layered details. I hope it captures the elegance and exquisite detail found in a natural garden left to grow wild and flourish.
